EXTRAVAGANT BODIES: Crime and punishment

Autodetector has been devised as a lie-detector to which the visitor connects, asks him or herself questions and gives answers to them. While using the work the visitor could realize how honest he or she is with him or herself, and would see how their body reacts to the things that they say, and following the instructions, through the recognition of certain patterns, could “be his or her own judge“.

The work consists of a wooden stand on which there is a pedestal with a modified stethoscope. The visitor must step onto the stand, take the stethoscope and put it against his or her heart. In addition to the measuring-reproduction of beats, which are manifested as a loud sound of the heart in the room, accompanied by vibration and light pulse from the lateral sides of the pedestal, the stethoscope measures the change in conductivity of the skin through the fingers. The change in conductivity, i.e. change in skin moisture is reflected in the change of the color of the light from the spotlights. In the polygraph examination one of the most important indicators of a strong emotional reaction is the sweating of hands. With elevated levels the light turns red.
The polygraph does not really tell us if we are lying, it only shows the body's reaction, and it is up to us to interpret the information.
